Jayant Chaudhary Flags Off Five New Solar Skill Vans to Expand Digital Access and Skilling Across India

New Delhi: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, on Tuesday flagged off five new Solar Community Hub Skill Vans aimed at expanding digital access and skill development opportunities in underserved communities across India.

The initiative has been developed by Dell Technologies in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and is being implemented by the Learning Links Foundation. The newly launched skill vans will operate across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Karnataka, Telangana and Maharashtra.

According to the organisers, the solar-powered mobile learning units are equipped with laptops, interactive screens, internet connectivity and AI-enabled learning tools. The vans are designed to deliver digital learning, employability-focused training and access to technology in areas with limited infrastructure.

The expansion will extend technology-enabled learning support to more than 50 vocational institutions, higher education campuses and community centres. The programme includes customised skill development modules and structured employability pathways aligned with emerging industry requirements.

Speaking at the launch, Shri Jayant Chaudhary said the initiative seeks to improve access to technology and skill development opportunities in different parts of the country. He noted that the integration of clean energy, AI-enabled learning and industry-relevant training could help prepare young people for future employment opportunities.

Manish Gupta, President and Managing Director of Dell Technologies India, said the programme is intended to support technology-led learning and workforce development by bringing digital resources directly to local communities.

The Solar Community Hub Skill Vans programme was first introduced in India during FY23. Since then, it has reached 18 districts across 14 states and has impacted approximately 2.67 million beneficiaries, according to programme data.

Globally, the initiative operates 63 skill vans across 12 countries.

The programme focuses on providing digital connectivity, education, job-relevant skills training and access to essential services for underserved communities, with a particular emphasis on youth and women.
