Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani Unveils Kauvery Institute of Digestive Sciences with Advanced Endoscopy Technology
Chennai: Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani, has announced the launch of the Kauvery Institute of Digestive Sciences, a specialised centre dedicated to comprehensive, evidence-based care for gastrointestinal and liver disorders. The new institute aims to address the rising burden of digestive health issues through advanced diagnostics, minimally invasive treatments, and preventive care.
Equipped with state-of-the-art flexible endoscopes, the institute offers a wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, and narrow band imaging. These technologies enable precision-guided, minimally invasive interventions for complex gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions.
Digestive disorders continue to affect a large segment of the Indian population, with nearly 70% experiencing symptoms such as acidity, bloating, constipation, or indigestion. Experts attribute the growing incidence—particularly among younger adults and adolescents—to changing dietary habits, increased consumption of ultra-processed foods, chronic stress, sedentary lifestyles, and irregular sleep patterns.
The newly launched institute adopts a multidisciplinary model, integrating medical gastroenterology, advanced endoscopy, surgical gastroenterology, and hepatology. This is further supported by preventive screening, nutritional counselling, and patient education to promote long-term digestive wellness.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals, said, “The Kauvery Institute of Digestive Sciences reflects our continued investment in centres of excellence that address real-world health challenges. By combining clinical expertise with preventive care, we aim to enhance outcomes and quality of life for individuals living with digestive disorders.”
Dr. Pandurangan Basumani, Senior Consultant Interventional Gastroenterologist and Director of the institute, highlighted the broader implications of digestive diseases, noting, “Digestive disorders are no longer isolated clinical issues—they mirror lifestyle and public health challenges. Our focus is on early diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and structured long-term management.”
Commenting on emerging trends, Dr. T. K. Anand, Senior Consultant – Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist, added, “We are increasingly seeing gastrointestinal conditions in younger age groups, driven by lifestyle stressors and delayed medical attention. Effective digestive care must prioritise preventive screening, timely intervention, and sustained lifestyle modification.”
With this launch, Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani reinforces its commitment to delivering structured, ethical, and evidence-driven digestive healthcare, addressing one of India’s most widespread yet often under-recognised health concerns.
