Malabar Group Allocates INR 150 Crore for CSR Initiatives in 2025-26
Chennai: Malabar Group, India’s leading business conglomerate, has allocated INR 150 crore for scaling up its CSR initiatives focused on healthcare, education, hunger and poverty alleviation, women empowerment, environment protection, and housing for the less privileged.
The Group’s flagship CSR initiative, ‘The Hunger Free World’, aims to distribute 70,000 meals daily in India and Zambia, totaling 2.50 crore meals in 2025-26. This initiative aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger and represents a significant leap from its cumulative achievement of 2.5 crore meals served over the past 3 years.
Malabar Group has dedicated 60 percent of its annual CSR budget to initiatives aimed at eradicating hunger and poverty, reinforcing its commitment to make a deeper social impact. The Group’s CSR initiatives are a reflection of its enduring commitment to giving back to society. With 295 million people globally facing acute hunger, immediate action is non-negotiable, said MP Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group.
The Group’s CSR initiatives include establishing 716 micro-learning centers across India, providing primary education and nutrition to street children, awarding scholarships to 1,14,000 girls, and building shelters for destitute women under the ‘Grandma Homes’ initiative. On the healthcare front, the Group plans to set up non-profit medical stores in all 140 locations in Kerala, offering medicines at subsidized rates.
The next phase of the Group’s CSR programs was launched by Dr. Amitabh Kant, former CEO of NITI Aayog & G-20 Sherpa, as the chief guest at an event held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi, which also marks the World Hunger Day. Other dignitaries present included M.P. Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group; KP Abdul Salam, Vice Chairman of Malabar Group; and O Asher, Managing Director of India Operations at Malabar Gold & Diamonds.
In Tamil Nadu, the initiative was flagged off by J. Karunanidhi, Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly (T.Nagar Constituency), in the presence of Elumalai, 133 Ward Councillor and Yassar, Tamil Nadu Region Head; Ameer Babu, North Region Head; and Shabir Ali, Tamil Nadu Merchandising Head.
