Rainbow Children’s Hospital Hosts ‘Happy Vibes’ Inclusive Event for Children with Developmental Needs in Chennai
Chennai: Rainbow Children’s Hospital organised an inclusive celebration titled “Happy Vibes” at its Sholinganallur facility, bringing together children with developmental needs and their parents for a day of activities, performances, and interactive engagement. The event saw participation from over 20 children and was led by developmental specialists and therapists from the hospital.
The initiative aimed to create a supportive and encouraging environment where children could express themselves and showcase their abilities. As part of the programme, children performed activities including fancy dress, dance, singing, and recitation of Thirukkural couplets, highlighting their confidence and enthusiasm. Interactive games conducted by therapists and staff encouraged participation from both children and parents, helping strengthen family bonding and social interaction.
Trainers from the Self Care Activity & Fitness (SCAF) Academy conducted structured physical activities and spoke about the importance of regular exercise in supporting overall developmental progress. Parents also actively participated throughout the event, contributing to an inclusive and supportive atmosphere.
Dr. Perumal Sathya S, Consultant – Developmental and Behavioural Pediatrics, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Sholinganallur, said the programme reflects the importance of creating inclusive spaces for children with developmental needs. She noted that developmental conditions can affect communication, behaviour, and social interaction, and emphasised the need for early identification and nurturing environments that help children realise their potential.
Facility Director John Paul Vijay said the hospital is committed to extending care beyond clinical treatment by creating meaningful experiences that support both children and families. He added that initiatives like “Happy Vibes” are part of efforts to build an inclusive ecosystem where every child feels valued and encouraged.
The hospital also highlighted its Child Development Centre initiative, which operates across its network and offers multidisciplinary evaluation and intervention services tailored to children with developmental needs, focusing on holistic and continuous care.
