IIT Mandi Holds 14th Convocation, Awards Degrees to 643 Students
Mumbai: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi conducted its 14th Convocation at its North Campus in Kamand Valley, Himachal Pradesh, awarding degrees to 643 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes.
According to the institute, the graduating class included 321 undergraduate students, 259 postgraduate students, and 63 Ph.D. scholars. The 2026 batch also marked the largest B.Tech graduating cohort in the institute’s history.
The convocation ceremony was attended by B.K. Goenka, Founder of Welspun World, who served as the Chief Guest. Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, and Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi, participated as Guests of Honour. The event was chaired by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIT Mandi.
During the ceremony, student Vayun Goel received the President of India Gold Medal and the Institute Gold Medal in Computer Science and Engineering.
Addressing the graduating students, B.K. Goenka emphasized the importance of originality, adaptability, and resilience in a rapidly evolving technological environment.
IIT Mandi Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera congratulated the graduating students and highlighted the institute’s recent academic and research initiatives. He noted that the institute has secured externally sponsored research projects worth nearly ₹100 crore and introduced new academic programmes.
Among the new offerings, IIT Mandi became the first IIT in India to launch a B.Tech programme in Quantum Science and Engineering. The institute has also introduced B.Tech programmes in Agricultural Engineering with Data Analytics and Chemical Engineering with Data Analytics.
The convocation marked another milestone in the institute’s academic journey as it continues to expand its research, innovation, and higher education initiatives.
